160 EV chargers to be installed across Brent

Brent Council and Uber are collaborating to deliver 160 electric vehicle charge points across the borough.

The streetside chargers, available to all, will improve access to EV chargers for those without driveway or home chargers.

The project forms part of Brent Council’s bigger plans to achieve net zero carbon emissions in the borough by 2030.

The new chargers will boost the capital’s overall charging network by more than 7 per cent.

Uber, the mobile taxi service, is looking to get as many of its drivers using electric vehicles as possible.

Jamie Heywood, general manager for Northern and Eastern Europe at Uber, said: “Drivers often tell me that being able to access reliable charging near their homes is critical to their decision to switch to an electric vehicle.”
