27 Apr Capital West London to host virtual West London Orbital Investor Tour
VIPs are being invited to join Capital West London and partners for a virtual tour of the West London Orbital.
Taking place at 10am on 18 May, this invite-only tour will see borough representatives and key stakeholders share the latest updates on progress so far, along with places along the line that will see the greatest impact from its delivery.
An extension to the London Overground network, the West London Orbital will run for approximately 11 miles from Hendon and West Hampstead to Hounslow via Brent Cross West, Neasden, Harlesden, Old Oak Common, Acton and Brentford. The route will use existing freight and passenger lines, including the Dudding Hill line and the Hounslow loop. The line will connect the Great West Corridor, Old Oak/Park Royal, Wembley and Brent Cross/Cricklewood Opportunity Areas, enabling the development of up to 15,800 new homes, as well as supporting opportunities for commercial and mixed-use sites. The West London Orbital will also improve journey times and offer much-needed transport alternatives, along with enhancing the attractiveness of the areas it connects to business occupiers and improving access for potential employees.
Although the completed route, proposed to be in operation by the end of the decade, will only take 35 minutes to travel along, the tour will see delegates ‘stop’ virtually at key locations down the line from Hendon to Hounslow, reaching the final stop at 11am.
The tour is being run in association with WSP, Willmott Dixon, Brentford Football Club, Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation and our Capital West London partners. Speakers so far include:
- Ian Liddell, Managing Director, Planning and Advisory – WSP
- Niall Bolger, Chief Executive – London Borough of Hounslow
- Andrew Barry-Purssell, Head of London Plan – Greater London Authority
- Matthew Rheinberg, Major Projects Manager – Transport For London
