Claremont Park shortlisted for top London architecture award

Claremont Park in Brent Cross has been shortlisted for a prestigious environmental architecture award.

The New London Awards 2022, sponsored by the London Mayor, have selected Claremont Park in the shortlist for the Public Spaces category.

Claremont Park is the first of seven parks that form part of the new neighbourhood of Brent Cross Town, a joint venture between Related Argent and Barnet Council to develop a large-scale mixed-use development, including new homes, retail and office space, improved schools and green spaces.

Claremont Park is an expansion of an existing open space to provide an enhanced 4.5-acre green space for community leisure activities. The new park brings together play facilities, water features, nature trails, a new community-run kiosk, and over 300 new trees, which have been planted across the park.

The park’s design has been guided by a set of principles to promote social, environmental and economic benefits so that it can become a core part of the emerging neighbourhood.

Apart from the tree-planting, the natural features include wildflower meadows and a large pond fed by swales, important for improving the local area’s biodiversity.

Winners will be announced on November 29.
