18 Mar Brent Cross West station on target to open in December
The new £40 million Brent Cross West station near Brent Cross Shopping Centre is on track to open in December 2022.
The station includes four new platforms and a connecting bridge and is part of the wider £419m regeneration programme for the area known as Brent Cross South. Brent Cross West is expected to serve around two million people in its first year, rising to five million once the wider project is completed in 2031.
Passengers will be able to travel to Kings Cross St Pancras in just 12 minutes via Thameslink, with services also running to Luton and Gatwick Airport.
A statement from Barnet Council described it as “an ambitious and visually stunning project which has sustainability and environmental innovations at the heart of its design.
“The completed building will feature a roof canopy of glazed panels resting on timber columns, vines connected to ground floor planters by a wire trellis system, and ornamental trees in the entranceway.”
