Confirmation of West London Orbital stations expected early 2024

The London Mayor has said the stations to be served by the West London Orbital will be confirmed “early next year” with an engineering design contract expected to be “awarded shortly”.

Sadiq Khan was responding to a written question asked by Labour London Assembly Member Elly Baker at Mayor’s Question Time on March 23.

The West London Orbital rail service will run from Hounslow towards Hendon and West Hampstead in the north, and Mr Khan said that Network Rail considers the scheme “viable” and “achievable” with an engineering design support contract expected “to be awarded shortly”.

This will lead to “an updated business case for the scheme” leading to “confirmation of the stations to be served, train frequency and traction power, and will allow other strategic decisions to be made early next year”.
