Councillor Janet Mote sworn in as Mayor of Harrow

Councillor Janet Mote was sworn in as the new Mayor of Harrow at Harrow Civic Centre on Thursday 26 May.

Janet Mote has been a councillor for 20 years and takes over in her role as mayor from Cllr Ghazanfar Ali.

Cllr Mote served as cabinet member for children’s services between 2006-2010 having previously worked as a teacher and carer. This is also why one of Cllr Mote’s chosen charities is Harrow Young Carers.

Cllr Mote’s second chosen charity for her mayoral year is Northwick Park Hospital Dialysis and Renal centre, who looked after her late husband, Cllr Chris Mote, so well.

The new Mayor of Harrow said: “It’s an honour to be the first citizen of Harrow. My mayoral theme for the year is love and respect – living, working in Harrow, and the environment.

“My two charities are Harrow Young Carers and Northwick Park Hospital Dialysis and Renal Centre, both close to my heard and they do a fantastic job in supporting some of our vulnerable residents. I hope you will support them during my mayoral year.

“I’d like to thank the outgoing mayor Cllr Ghazanfar Ali who, despite the challenges of the pandemic, has done a great job in bringing communities together and celebrating the great work done in the community.

“I am looking forward to continuing the great work and meet many of our residents and communities who play a huge role in making Harrow a great place to live and work.”
