New adult learning centre to launch in Uxbridge

Hillingdon Council has invested £875,000 to deliver a new state-of-the-art adult education centre in Uxbridge.

The new facility is scheduled to open in September for the start of the new academic year.

Learn Hillingdon will be comprised of five 50 sqm classrooms, a multi-purpose workshop, office space, a cookery room, and a creche.

The service will offer a variety of learning opportunities and courses, including evening and weekend study, spread between the classroom and virtual learning. The programme includes qualifications to help residents into work and achieve their career goals as well as support physical health and mental wellbeing.

Councillor Susan O’Brien, cabinet member for children, families and education, said: “We are pleased to invest even more in this service to enhance and improve the facilities if offers our residents.

“We offer much more than just learning. Learn Hillingdon – Adult Community Education is a hugely valuable resource for those aged over 19 who want to improve their economic prospects and social and emotional wellbeing.
