Phase two of Wealdstone improvements to start

Following successful changes to George Gange Way this spring, Wealdstone town centre continues onto its second phase of improvement works. This phase will run from the 28 June.

The southern end of the high street by Harrow & Wealdstone station will be remodelled, to create an attractive public space and gateway into the town from the station. The design features a new road layout, along with repositioning of taxi-ranks and new cycle facilities, to increase the size and enhance the function of the station forecourt area. Public realm improvements at the station introduce green space, trees, lighting and seating, creating a pedestrian-friendly area.

Councillor Varsha Parmar, Portfolio Holder for Environment said: “Upgrading the public space around the station creates a greener, open and more pleasant environment for Wealdstone residents and visitors to travel to or from.”

The overall programme of improvements to transform Wealdstone, will take approximately 12 months to complete and will be carried out over several phases.
