WLA explores borough boundaries for better travel connections

Between September 2021 and January 2022 the West London Alliance ran a project to systematically analyse every boundary between West London boroughs and report on areas for improvement, including wider strategic opportunities like cycle networks and town centre connections.

Using Google Maps, Transport for London’s Playbook software, CrashMap’s accident reports, and other software, the West London Alliance created detailed analyses on each boundary, examining footbridges, pavements, cycle lanes, junctions, bus routes, signage, lighting, and safety.

The boundaries are comprised of privately-owned land, Thames-side routes, and open fields and bridleways.

The report has been shared with the boroughs to help them look at improvements and invest in future projects.

It’s hoped that this method of reporting will encourage the relatively quick and easy improvements across West London to improve journeys and connections for commuters and visitors.
